BLACKPINK has been announced to make a comeback next month. The K-pop female group agency, YG Entertainment, confirmed it.

In a statement on its official website, YG said Jisoo, Jennie, Lisa, and Rosé will be releasing a new album before the month ends.  The label's big boss, Yang Hyun Suk, teased that the news songs of BLACKPINK in their upcoming album is something that he himself did not expect.

"When I first came to think of the response of my first encounter with the new songs of BLACKPINK through Teddy, I recalled a deep sigh of relief because it was more than I imagined. I think you should be expecting enough, "he said.

Yang earlier confirmed BLACKPINK's comeback in a post on Instagram last month. He said they are targeting a mid to late March release of new BLACKPINK extended play album.

Apparently, the group is set to film a music video for the EP this week. The BLACKPINK's fans, also called the Blinks, have been waiting for the group's comeback since their last album.

The new album from the quartet will be their followed to their latest EP, titled Square Up, which was dropped in June 2018. The title track of the album "DDU-DU DDU-DU" became a local and international hit.

The song debuted at No. 55 on the Billboard Hot 100, the highest ranking that a K-pop female group have reached in the chart. Square Up, on the other hand, debut at No. 40 on the US Billboard 200, also the highest-charting to date by an all-female K-pop group.

"DDU-DU DDU-DU" also recently made history on YouTube as the first K-pop group music video that ever surpasses the 700 million views mark. The only other Korean act that achieves the same feat is PSY, who still holds the record for the most-watched K-pop music video of all time with "Gangnam Style."

BLACKPINK recently concluded the Asia leg of their In Your Area world tour in Taiwan. They are set to resume the tour with the North America leg on April 17 in Los Angeles, California. The group will have 10 tour dates in the U.S. and in Canada before heading to Europe. Additionally, BLACKPINK will also hit the Coachella stage in April.

The group will embark on the Europe legs and perform for their fans in the Netherlands, Englands, Germany, France, and Spain. Jisoo, Jennie, Lisa, and Rosé will also be in Australia in June.

BLACKPINK have been promoting in the United States recently. They have performed on Good Morning America as well as in The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.
