Park Bom Talks About Possible 2NE1 Reunion; Gets A Little Bit Emotional When Asked About BIGBANG's Seungri
Former 2NE1 member Park Bom has returned. After releasing his comeback solo album, Spring, she also held a showcase where she opened up about several topics including the possibility of a 2NE1 reunion and also answered questions about the scandals that her former labelmate Seungri has been in.
It has been over two years since 2NE1 disbanded but the members remain connection. They often show support to each other's project. When asked about the possibility of a 2NE1 reunion, Park Bom has a positive response.
The 34-year-old singer said she is more than willing to work together with her former bandmates. In fact, she did reunite with Sandara Park in the music video for her new song "Spring."
Bom, however, said as of now, all of the 2NE1 members are busy promoting their respective projects. This means a reunion may not be possible in the near future.
The singer also expressed gratitude to her former boss, YG Entertainment CEO Yang Hyun Suk, for promoting her album. Park Bom debuted under YG Entertainment in 2009.
She, along with Sandara Park, CL, and Minzy, was promoted under the group name 2NE1. The K-pop female group officially disbanded in November 2016 after Minzy left the group in April of the same year and Bom did not renew her contract. Park Bom is currently under contract with PSY's new agency, D-Nation.
During her showcase, Park Bom has also been asked about her thought on YG Entertainment facing a tough time with the scandals concerning its artists. Although surprised by the question, she said she only learned about the scandals recently and she has nothing to say about it.
When asked about former BIGBANG member Seungri and his recent retirement from the industry, Park Bom got a little bit emotional. The members of 2NE1 have been known to be friends with the members of BIGBANG.
"I don't think there's exactly anything I can say about the matter," said Bom in a sad voice.
Bom's Spring album dropped on March 13. This is her first solo after "Don't Cry" in 2011. Bom is also set to make her first solo music show performance on M Countdown on March 14.
As of Thursday, "Spring" has taken the No. 1 spot on major realtime charts such as Genie, Mnet, Bugs, and Soribada. It also took second place on the realtime chart of Korea's largest music site Melon and also on Naver.
