'The Last Empress' Episodes 17 & 18 Spoilers: Emperor Investigates Oh Sunny For Murder Of Grand Empress
Gil Oh Sunny is in big trouble in the upcoming The Last Empress Episodes 17 and 18. She will be investigated for the murder of Grand Empress Dowager Jo.
After surviving the attempt on her life and harassment to her family, Oh Sunny (Jang Na Ra) is facing another challenge in her life in palace. She could be facing prison time or even death after Emperor Lee Hyuk (Shin Sung Rok) himself found her beside the dead body of Grand Empress Dowager Jo (Park Won Sook) on her last day at the palace.
In the previous episodes of The Last Empress, the Emperor and his mistress, Min Yoo Ra (Lee Elijah), called the press and made it look like Oh Sunny as having an affair with her bodyguard, Chun Woo Bin (Choi Jin Hyuk). His Highness also ordered Woo Bin to kill his wife by pushing her off the cliff.
Fortunately, Oh Sunny survived with the help of the same man who saved Na Wang Sik when he was shot by the Emperor's right-hand man. Back in the palace, Oh Sunny shocked the Emperor when she returns alive.
The new Empress is determined to stand her ground and exercise her power in the palace. She revealed what happened to Grand Empress Dowager Jo and asked for her help to find out whether or not the late Empress So Hyun really died of cardiac arrest.
The Grand Empress confronted the Emperor and Yoo Ra. Lee Hyuk, instead, threatened his grandmother not to challenge his authority. In the end, the Grand Empress ordered Oh Sunny to leave the palace and she will take of the Emperor.
The Grand Empress told the Emperor's mother, Empress Dowager Kang (Shin Eun Kyung), that she will ask the Internal Affairs of the palace to investigate the Emperor's attempt to murder his wife, his relationship with Yoo Ra, and the illegitimate child he had from an affair. The Grand Empress would also like the Internal Affairs to re-investigate the real cause of the late Empress So Hyun's death.
Grand Empress threaten to punish all the people who violated the palace laws. Dowager Kang pleaded to the Grand Empress not to launch an investigation as it will ruin the imperial family. Dowager has knowledge that the last Empress died from drowning and not from cardiac arrest as the royal family had told the public.
At the end of Episode 16, someone killed Grand Empress Dowager Jo in her sleep. Oh Sunny found her dead from a stab of her chest. The Emperor caught his wife beside the dead body of his grandmother.
In the upcoming episode, the imperial family will order an investigation on the death of the Grand Empress. Oh Sunny is seen being interrogated for the crime. It seems like Dowager Kang or Yoo Ra has something to do with the death of the Grand Empress.
In the teaser for the upcoming episode, the Emperor can be heard asking someone in the teaser, "Must you go this far?" He also told the royal guards that Oh Sunny is no longer the Empress.
Meanwhile, Oh Sunny is insisting to return to the palace. The Last Empress Episodes 17 and 18 will air on December 19 at 10 p.m. on SBS.
