K-pop fans couldn't wait for the 2018 KBS Song Festival because of its star-studded lineup this year. The festival has added more K-pop artists on its lineup and also announced this year's MCs.

The KBS Song Festival is bringing back its traditional of 20 to 30 K-pop groups/artists. Between 2006 and 2016, the festival featured performances from at least 20 K-pop acts. However, the show scaled down to eight groups/singers in 2017.

In this year's KBS Song Festival, K-pop fans will be given a break from series of award shows with a gathering of more K-pop artists. The festival is originally an award show but the network stops the awards ceremony in 2006. It continued since as a music festival except in 2013 when it gave out some recognition.

This year, the event will be hosted by BTS member Jin, EXO's Chanyeol, and TWICE member Dahyun. In a teaser for the upcoming event, KBS also revealed the second list of performers. It includes EXO, TWICE, AOA, VIXX, NU'EST W, GOT7, MONSTA X, NCT 127, Highlight's Yong Jun Hyung, 10cm, Roy Kim, Lovelyz, and MOMOLAND.

The festival earlier announced that initial lineup of K-pop groups. The list includes BTS, Wanna One, Red Velvet, SEVENTEEN, GFRIEND, BTOB, and Apink. Hwang Chi Yeol, Sunmi, Chungha, Norazo, Oh My Girl, and (G)I-DLE will be attending this year's event as well.

The annual music event has been dubbed "one big K-pop party" and the artists are expected to enjoy the event as there are no awards to be given out. This year, the festival will be is centered around the theme "A Huge Fantastical Party." The 2018 KBS Song Festival will be held on December 28 at 8:30 p.m. KST.

Between the 2018 Mnet Asian Music Awards on December 4 and the 2018 KBS Song Festival on December 28, there are at least two more awards shows that K-pop fans should watch out for. The 2018 Kpop Popular Music Awards will be held on December 20 while the 2018 SBS Gayo Daejeon is scheduled on Christmas day at the Gocheok SkyDome.
