It was a sad day for the cast and crew of Starz series Power. The production of the sixth season of the show has been temporarily halted after one of its crew members died on the set.

Power production assistant Pedro Jimenez was pronounced dead at Brooklyn Hospital where he was rushed after he was hit by an SUV in the early morning shot of the show. Apparently, Jimenez is setting up parking cones at the series Brooklyn location when he was struck by a vehicle.

Reports indicate that the driver of the vehicle that hit Jimenez is also a member of the production crew. No cast members were on set when the accident occurred. Power is set and being filmed in New York City.

The 63-year-old production assistant has been with Power since its first day of production in 2013. Power has temporarily shut down production following the incident. Starz said this will give time for the cast and crew to deal with the tragic loss.

Starz has yet to give details on when production will resume. The filming of the TV series is expected to take a holiday soon, so the filming could possibly resume right after the next year. Power Season 6 is scheduled to premiere in summer of 2019.

Accidents on TV show or movie set locations are unfortunately common. One of the most infamous tragedies on set happened during the filming of 1994 movie The Crow. Its lead star Brandon Lee died when a stunt that involves a prop gun gone wrong. In TV production, Walking Dead stuntman John Bernecker passed away after he sustained brain injury from falling 30 feet onto a concrete floor during the filming of the AMC hit series last year.

Power is created by Courtney Kemp and executive produced by Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, who also appeared in the show as drug dealer Kanan Stark. After he was informed of the sad news, the American rapper/producer posted on Twitter his prayers and condolences to Jimenez's family.

Power is a crime drama that tells the story of ruthless drug-dealer James "Ghost" St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick). He wants to get out of the criminal world and instead focus on his legitimate nightclub business but his past continues to hover over him. In October, Kemp confirmed that they are already working on Power spinoffs.
