The 2019 Golden Globes has revealed its nominees for movie and TV categories.  However, many netizens were surprised that some of the fan-favorite series, movies, and actors were not nominated in categories that they are expected to be on. The nominees were chosen by the members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

Among the fan-favorite TV series that failed to get Best Drama nominations are This Is Us, The Handmaid's Tale, Better Call Saul, House of Cards, and Outlander. The category was filled by The Americans, Bodyguard, Homecoming, Killing Eve, and Pose.

The NBC drama This Is Us did not get any nod this year despite having nominations for the past two years. Sterling K. Brown, the  2018 Golden Globes winner for Best Actor in TV Drama Series, also failed to make it to the lineup.

Robin Wright did not get a nomination as well for her performance as the first female President of the United States in the last season of House of Cards. The Handmaid's Tale star Elisabeth Moss, on the other hand, was given another nod for Best Actress and co-star Yvonne Strahovski for supporting role but the past Best Drama TV Series winner itself has been overlooked.

Outlander was once again left out in the Best Drama category and lead actor Sam Heughan got snubbed as well by HFPA. Caitriona Balfe, on the other hand, got her third consecutive nomination for Best TV Drama Actress.

As for comedy series, Atlanta lead actor Donald Glover snagged a nomination but the series itself wasn't lucky enough to get a nod in Best TV Series, Musical or Comedy category. The FX series won the same award last year.

Meanwhile, the movies that many fans are expected to be mentioned but instead got snubbed in major categories are First Man, Black Panther, John Krasinski's A Quiet Place, and Ethan Hawke's First Reformed.

First Man lead actor Ryan Gosling and director Damien Chazelle were overlooked for Best Actor and Best Director, respectively. Fortunately, Claire Foy was able to score a Best Support Actress nom.

Black Panther actors Chadwick Boseman and Michael B. Jordan failed to make it to the cut. Director Ryan Coogler did not get recognition as well.

Vice got the most number of nods for the 76th Golden Globe Awards. The Dick Cheney biopic is followed by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper's A Star Is Born, Viggo Mortensen and Mahershala Ali's Green Book, and period drama The Favourite.

The 2019 Golden Globe Awards will air on January 6. It will broadcast live on NBC.
