2018 MAMA News: Seventeen To Debut New Song + MAMAMOO Confirms First-Ever Attendance

More exciting performances are expected in the upcoming 2018 Mnet Asian Music Awards next month. Seventeen is reportedly set to drop new song while MAMAMOO has confirmed their first-ever appearance in the event.

AllKpop reported that Seventeen plans to debut their new song in 2018 MAMA in Hong Kong which is happening on December 14. Seventeen is nominated for multiple categories of MAMA such as Male Group, Best Dance Performance Male Group, Singer of the Year, Best Unit, and Song of the Year. The K-pop boy group earlier took home the Best Artist and Artist of the Year awards along with 10 other groups/artist at the recent 2018 Asia Artist Awards.

The thirteen-member group debut in 2015. The dropped their fifth mini album You Make My Day on July 16. The EP broke the group's personal record for most sales in the first week after release. It is also Seventeen's best-sold album overall to date.

Meanwhile, MAMAMOO member Wheein has confirmed that she and her bandmates will be joining this year's MAMA. During the group's showcase for their eighth mini album BLUE;S, MAMAMOO was asked about how they feel about attending MAMA for the first time since their debut in 2014.

"We're very happy to attend for the first time. I think the fans like it more than us. That's why we feel happy too. We're working hard to prepare for it," Wheein responded.

Solar, Moonbyul, Wheein, and Hwasa dropped BLUE;S along with the music video for the title track "Wind Flower" on November 29. Their new album, which is consist of six songs, is the third installment in the band Four Seasons series. The first in the series is Yellow Flower which was released earlier this year and it was followed by Red Moon in July.

MAMAMOO is expected to perform "Wind Flower" in the upcoming 2018 MAMA. The track expresses the members feeling of regret and getting over heartbreak.

MAMAMOO fandom earlier decided to boycott the K-pop female group's concert in December after the band's label RBW rejected their request to postpone the event because they were concerned about the members' health. RBW only considered the fans' request when the fandom announced that they will boycott the concert as well as all related merchandise of the group.

MAMA is expected to put out an extravagant production as it celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. The three-part event will kick off on December 10 in Seoul before heading to Japan on December 12. The 2018 MAMA will end on December 14 at the AsiaWorld-Expo Arena in Hong Kong.
