Janet Jackson To Perform At The 2018 Mnet Asian Music Awards; MOMOLAND & Rapper Mommy Son's Collaboration Revealed

Korean awards season is really here. It kicked off with the first outing of the MBC Plus Genie Music Awards which was graced by American singer Charlie Puth. MGA will be followed by several other award shows in the coming weeks and some of it will feature American singers.

American artists in Korean or Asian award show is not new to fans. It's been going on for years and the Mnet Asian Music Awards is not different. In this year's MAMA, Janet Jackson will be taking the stage and expected to perform her new single.

Mnet's Business Head of Department Kim Ki Woong has announced the new additions to the lineup of the 2018 MAMA. He confirmed that Janet Jackson will be taking part in 2018 MAMA as well as Singaporean singer JJ Lin and Japanese actor Yutaka Matsushige, who is known for his role in Kodoku no Gourmet.

In May 2018, Jackson received the prestigious Billboard Icon Award at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards. She also announced at the time that she is working on her new song. The "Rhythm Nation" hitmaker released in August her new single "Made For Now" which is a collaboration with Daddy Yankee. Jackson also received her third nomination into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last month.

Mnet also revealed a collaboration between MOMOLAND and the rapper Mommy Son from Show Me the Money 777 in the upcoming 2018 MAMA. Kim teased that this is something to look forward to which could be about Mommy Son's true identity.

The rapper's face remains hidden by wearing a pink balaclava when performing. Many think that Mommy Son is actually the rapper Mad Clown but the latter already said he is not the man behind the mask.

Meanwhile, several K-drama stars will also attend the ceremony such as are Coffee Prince actor Kim Dong Wook, Thirty But Seventeen star Yang Se Jong, The Korean Odyssey actor Cha Seung Won, and Beautiful Mind's Jang Hyuk. Also attending the 2018 MAMA are Korean actresses such as Secret Garden's Kim Sa Rang, The Beauty Inside star Seo Hyun Jin, Wok of Love's Jung Ryeo Won, and more.

Mnet earlier announced the K-pop groups Wanna One, Stray Kids, THE BOYZ, (G)I-DLE, and more attending the 2018 MAMA in Seoul on December 10. BTS, TWICE, IZ*ONE, MONSTA X, and Wanna One will be in the Japan event on December 12. It will be hosted by Encounter actor Park Bo Gum. Finally, performers for the 2018 MAMA in Hong Kong on December 14 are BTS, Wanna One, GOT7, SEVENTEEN, and MOMOLAND.
