'Goblin' Actor Lee Dong Wook & Apink Confirm Attendance At 2018 Melon Music Awards + Voting Update
Korean actor Lee Dong Wook and girl group Apink have confirmed their attendance in the upcoming 018 Melon Music Awards. Lee will be in the event as a presenter while Apink will be hitting the stage as a performer.
Lee's agency King Kong by Starship announced that the actor will be presenting an award in MMA this year. Bae Suzy's ex-boyfriend recently starred in JTBC's K-drama Life. He and Goblin co-star Yoo In Na will reunite in the upcoming TV series, titled Touch Your Heart. The show is expected to be released next year.
Apink's label Plan A Entertainment also announced that the group is returning on MMA after three years of absence. The last time Cho Rong, Bo Mi, Eun Ji, Na Eun, Nam Joo, and Ha Young attended the event was in 2015 although Eun Ji appeared last year and won the Folk/Blues Song award for "The Spring."
Apink made their comeback in July with I'm So Sick album. The LP topped several local music charts and also peaked at No. 11 on Billboard's World Albums chart. The album also made it possible for the group to debut on Billboard's Social 50 chart at No. 39.
Lee and Apink will be joining the lineup of previously announced artists that are set to grace the 2018 Melon Music Awards. It was earlier revealed that BTS, BLACKPINK, Wanna One, and iKON will be attending the show.
Meanwhile, BTS is currently leading the voting for some major categories of the 2018 MMA. As of writing, the septet is at No. 1 for Artist of the Year award with 1,386,365. EXO is in a close second with 1,318,610 votes so far.
BTS's Love Yourself: Tear is also the frontrunner for Album of the Year with 1,378,899 votes and EXO's Universe at No. 2 with 1,314,287. The Bangtan Boys' hit track "Fake Love" is leading the Best Song of the Year award with 1,341,411 while BTOB's "This Is Us" is at the second spot with 666,364.
The voting will run until midnight on November 30. The 2018 Melon Music Awards will be held at Gocheok SkyDome on December 1 at 7 p.m. KST. It will also live via JTBC2, JTBC4, 1theK, Kakao TV, and Daum.
