EXO member Lay revealed some of his "first" in life that many fans may not be aware of despite years of following the singer. All of the things that Lay has shared are personal information that his followers will surely be interested with.

Zhang Yixing, better known with his stage name Lay, revealed that he did not have a passion for playing music when he was young. It was his mother who introduced him to the piano when he was six years old and told him that it is an important skill to learn. But Lay has no interest in the musical instrument until he was 14 years old when he realized the importance of music to him.

Lay has shown in BuzzFeed's interview how deeply he is connected to his mother. In fact, his first-ever big purchase in life is for his mom. He bought her a house as a show of gratitude for raising him and to pay her back for all that she spent on him growing up.

Lay's first nickname "Xing Xing" which was also given by his mother. The singer said his nickname means "Handsome Handsome" in English.

The 27-year old idol was also asked about his first pet. He recalled that he had a cat ten years ago. But when he moved to Korea to train in 2018, he left the cat to a friend. When asked about the name of his cat, Lay realized that he did not give his pet a name. Lay hilariously said he just call him "Cat."

Lay's first competition was at his hometown of Changsha in Hunan, China when he was 13. He said he joined a TV competition and finished third at the end.

Known for his on-point dance moves, Lay admitted that he can't really remember when was the first time he fell in love with dancing. He explained that he mainly used his skills on the dance floor as a "weapon" to gain recognition.

Currently, the Chinese singer doesn't own his own place. He doesn't see the relevance of having his own apartment at this point since he is busy touring the world so he basically lives in hotels. However, he also showed optimism of buying his own house in the future.

Lay also confessed that he has a culinary talent. He considers himself an expert in making toast. The singer also admitted that he always craves for New York's hotdog.

Lay is currently promoting his third studio album, titled Namanana, which was released in October. It debuted at No. 21 on the Billboard 200 chart, the highest ranking a Mandarin pop artist ever achieved. Lay also rejoined his EXO bandmates in its latest album Don't Mess Up With My Tempo which was dropped earlier this month.
