Before everything will get out of control, Arrow star Stephen Amell immediately shots down rumors that Supernatural actor Jensen Ackles will be playing the role of Batman in the annual Arrowverse crossover. The actor said Ackles is merely visiting his friends when he was spotted in crossover set.

Amell and the rest of the cast of the annual CW shows' crossover are currently filming the episodes for the three-part episode, titled "Elseworlds." The rumor about Ackles playing the role of Batman spreads when the actor, who famously portrays Sam Winchester in Supernatural, visited the set of "Elseworlds."

This makes fans speculate that he is also suiting up as the Caped Crusader. Many have expressed excitement to see Ackles as the dashing billionaire Bruce Wayne and at the same time, Gotham City's superhero.

"Let me squash this rumor right now. @JensenAckles was on set tonight because he's Grant Gustin's #2 fan (I'm #1) and not because he's playing The Batman," Amell tweeted.

Though some fans are taking Amell's words, others are not. The idea of Ackles playing the iconic DC character is not so far-fetched. To many fans, having Batman in the crossover makes sense as this will be the first time Arrowverse will feature Gotham City. Additionally, it is also the debut of actress Ruby Rose as Katherine Kane, a.k.a. Batwoman.

Meanwhile, the Arrow-The Flash-Supergirl crossover will also feature Tyler Hoechlin as Superman in his black suit. Stephen Amell also earlier shared a behind-the-scenes photo from the upcoming crossover which features Oliver Queen (Amell) and Barry Allen (Gustin) wearing matching leather outfits. He also shared a poster of Oliver as The Flash and Barry as The Arrow which suggests the Green Arrow and The Flash are switching identities in "Elseworlds."

The crossover will kick off with The Flash on December 9. It will continue with Arrow on December 10 and concludes with Supergirl on December 11.

Speculations about Amell and Ackles working together are not surprising to many. The CW fans have been clamoring to see both the Arrow and Supernatural stars in one screen since the time Amell expressed interest to work with Ackles and Jared Padalecki. However, Supernatural showrunner Andrew Dabb already ruled it out, saying he doesn't think a crossover between the two shows is possible.

"[But] the number of shows that can realistically crossover with Supernatural is very low. Mixing genres in crossovers don't work that well, so, like, a crossover with Arrow is not going to work out for us," he told the press during the show's Television Critics Association presentation in August.

Meanwhile, Ackles may not join the cast of The CW/DC crossover but he is still providing interesting storyline as Archangel Michael in the ongoing Supernatural Season 14. The actor assured the show's fandom that Dean will be back in his old self very soon but the battle against Michael will continue.
