Batwoman is joining forces with the Arrowverse this season. The CW has dropped the first official image of Australian actress Ruby Rose suited up as Batwoman.

In the photo, Rose is sporting a black and red catsuit which also features a bat insignia emblazoned on the chest. The costume was designed by Oscar winner Colleen Atwood.

Rose will be making her debut as Batwoman, a.k.a. Kathy Kane, in the annual crossover of the DC shows on The CW. However, this year's crossover will only feature Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl. Apparently, the crossover will be focusing on the Arkham Asylum.

Reports indicate that the Arrowverse crossover will begin filming next week in Vancouver. The three-night special will kick off with The Flash on December 9. The story will continue in Stephen Amell-led Arrow on December 10 and will end in Supergirl on December 11.

Batwoman will return in her solo TV series which will be penned by The Vampire Diaries writer Caroline Dries. The CW is eyeing for a premiere date next year. If everything runs as planned, Rose's Batwoman would be the first gay lead character in a live-action superhero TV show. The official logline for the upcoming TV series describes Kathy Kane as a lesbian and trained street fighter.

In August, the network confirmed that the Orange is the New Black star will be playing the role of iconic superhero Batwoman. After the casting was announced, Rose revealed on Instagram that the role is her "childhood dream" for her.

"This is something I would have died to have seen on TV when I was a young member of the LGBT community who never felt represented on TV and felt alone and different," she wrote.

Rose rose to fame when for playing the role of Stella Carlin in Netflix's Orange Is The New Black. Rose also appeared in Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, Vin Diesel's xXx: Return of Xander Cage, John Wick: Chapter 2 as well as in Pitch Perfect 3.

Meanwhile, all of The CW's DC shows are set to premiere this month starting with The Flash on October 9. Supergirl will be backed on October 14, Arrow Season 7 on October 15, and Legend of Tomorrow on October 22.
