This Is Us is moving past Jack Pearson's death. In the upcoming season, viewers will be seeing a different side of Jack-as a patriot of his country. The This Is Us executives have been dropping teasers for the upcoming Season 3 without giving out too much information about the much-awaited answers to the burning questions of Season 2 finale. Additionally, the NBC drama will also bring the Pearson family back on television a little sooner than expected.

This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman dropped the first look of Jack Pearson (Milo Ventimiglia) as a soldier during the Vietnam War. The clip features Ventimiglia in a look that fans are not accustomed to. The actor is seen clean-shaven and sporting full combat gear while he onboard a moving vehicle.

Many fans shared their reactions to the new clip. Many are excited to see Papa Pearson in military uniform while others said they couldn't watch Jack killing someone.

The series showrunners have said in the past that after dealing with Jack's death, Season 3 will dive much deeper into stories of his past. Additionally, the Pearson patriarch's relationship with his younger brother Nicky (Michael Angarano), whom he also serves with during the Vietnam war, will also reveal this season.

The third installment will pick up on the Big 3's birthday which coincidentally is also their father's birthday. The triplet turn 38 in the season pilot episode. Viewers will also learn more about how the Jack and Rebecca's (Mandy Moore) romance begun as well as Rebecca's relationship with Miguel (Jon Huertas). See the teaser clip below.

The backstories of Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson) and Toby (Chris Sullivan) will also be told this season. The mysterious woman in the flash-forward scene between old Randall (Sterling K. Brown) and grown-up Tess will also be revealed in the third installment.

In other This Is Us news, NBC is bringing back the Pearson family earlier than its scheduled premiere. The network announced that it would be airing the so-called The Paley Center Salutes This Is Us a week before the Season 3 premiere.

The one-hour special will introduce the new season with videos, cast interviews, and behind-the-scenes footages on how the show comes together each week. It will also feature some highlights from the previous seasons.

Deadline reported that the producers, writers, and cast members of the show are all joining the event. Both Ventigmiglia and Moore are joining the event along with Chrissy Metz (Kate), Justin Hartley (Kevin), Brown, Sullivan, and Watson.

The Paley Center Salutes This Is Us airs on September 18 at 10 p.m. ET on NBC. This Is Us Season 3 will premiere on September 25 at 9/8c also on NBC.
