South Korean Travel: Incheon International Airport Partners With BTS For Special Project
Tourists arriving at Incheon International Airport will soon see special South Korean travel promotional items designed by BTS band members. The collaboration project aims to target millennial travelers to visit South Korea.
Incheon Airport officials recently unveiled its plans to deploy a marketing and promotional scheme that will feature the creativity of the multi-awarded group BTS. With the goal of increasing the global travelers' awareness of the South Korean airport's facilities and amenities, officials are set to release marketing peripherals that will include the BT21 characters designed by K-pop idols V, Jungkook, Jimin, Suga, Jin, RM, and J-Hope.
The animal-like figures are part of the communication app Line's "Friends Creators" project. Each BTS member came up with the personalities and skills of seven unique BT21 characters, including an eight character to represent the K-pop band as a whole. Launched in December 2017, the seven-member band's specially designed BT21 characters became a popular item that eventually found its way into clothing brands and select cosmetic products.
The same collection was also launched in the Line stores located in New York and Seoul. Avid BTS fans can even purchase the said B21 characters from several major shopping malls in Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. However, Incheon International Airport aims to utilize the BTS designed B21 characters in its upcoming promotional activities that include short films, luggage cart stickers, and more.
In a recent announcement, as acquired by Korea Herald, Incheon Airport president and CEO Chung Il Young stated that the planned BTS & B21 collaboration project would help entice millennial travelers and global K-pop fans to visit South Korea through the said international airport. The CEO explained that the said project "reflects the need for a marketing strategy targeting" to target the said age group given that 60 percent of the Asian travelers going to South Korea are millennials.
Travelers arriving at South Korea's Incheon Airport will soon see eight short promotional clips featuring the BTS B21 characters. Airport luggage carts will also be updated to contain new B21 stickers and will be available in July.
