Rob Lowe's Paris Tweets Criticized; Fans Call Him 'Ignorant' And 'Insensitive'
Rob Lowe was criticized after posting several tweets about the massive terrorist attack in Paris.
Rob Lowe released a series of posts on twitter on Friday evening which first started with a tweet saying, "Vive La France!" after the Paris terrorist attack incident where over 130 people were killed. He then later criticized the declaration from François Hollande, France President with regards of closing the country's borders.
He tweeted, "Oh, NOW France closes its borders. #Hollande," reported by USA Today. The French President first declared in September that the country would welcome 24,000 migrants for more than two years to help people who escaped from war and abuse.
People quickly criticized the actor saying that he's "a disgusting human being," according to TMZ. Another tweet shared a response saying, "Those refugees were fleeing their home countries to save their lives."
Rob Lowe tweets continued with another post stating, "This is either the worst translation of an important speech ever, or one of the worst ever given," according to Independent. This has caused several twitter users to brand him as "ignorant" and "insensitive."
He defended his tweet as a misinterpretation to what he wants to relay about the Paris incident saying, "Wow. For you trolls out there, the phrase 'Vive La France' is the traditional expression of SUPPORT for France," reported by Independent. "Don't misinterpret my words," he added.
"Happy Days" actor Scott Baio showed support for Rob Lowe via a tweet saying, "Bravo @RobLowe Bravo! I'm with you" associated with hashtags #CloseOurBorders and #PrayForParis, reported by USA Today.
Rob Lowe is popular for being frank in social media. He later shared his life experiences in France and said that he spent "a ton of time there." He added that the Paris killings were "all so devastatingly sad for a place I love," reported to Independent.
