'The Walking Dead' Season 9 Set As Final Season As Norman Reedus Reconsiders Staying After Andrew Lincoln's Alleged Departure
The end could be creeping up on The Walking Dead like a walker advancing on a wounded survivor. There have been reports that lead star Andrew Lincoln might be leaving the AMC series after a gory nine-year run. But is it possible that Norman Reedus will be following Lincoln's lead at the conclusion of The Walking Dead Season 9? There are speculations that the real Daryl Dixon is ready to lay down his crossbow and leave the show by next year.
Fans have been concerned about the future of the horror series since it was revealed that Lauren Cohan had taken the lead role in a new pilot titled Whiskey Cavalier. Although it has been confirmed that Maggie Greene will still be a part of The Walking Dead Season 9, there have been speculations that the show might be nearing its end as viewership sank to an all-time low with the previous season. Could the ninth season be the final one as Norman Reedus and Andrew Lincoln set off for their own personal projects?
Collider has just reported that Andrew Lincoln will be leaving the series after The Walking Dead Season 9. According to the report, Rick Grimes will appear in at least six more episodes before possibly biting the dust. Although it was not revealed how Rick will be killed off on the AMC show, the news outlet indicated that Norman Reedus is being courted to take over as the new leading man after Lincoln's departure. Unfortunately, there is a considerable possibility that the Boondock Saints actor is also planning his exit following some significant news from his girlfriend Diane Kruger.
According to US Weekly, sources have confirmed that Diane Kruger is expecting her first child with Norman Reedus. Although the Inglourious Basterds actress has been very secretive about her pregnancy, there have been speculations that Kruger has been hiding her baby bump during her recent appearance at the Cannes Film Festival. This indeed is an excellent news for the couple, but it could also mean that Reedus will be settling down and is no longer interested in renewing his contract after The Walking Dead Season 9.
So does this mean that The Walking Dead Season 9 is the final season? The show certainly seems to be grinding to a stop following the unfortunate death of Carl Grimes and Andrew Lincoln's upcoming departure. Hopefully, the series has a fitting conclusion for all the survivors later this October.
