'The Walking Dead' Season 9 Release Date, Theories, & Spoilers: Daryl Might Betray Rick, Maggie Could Be The Next Villain
The season finale of The Walking Dead Season 8 made every viewer fall from their seat. As the "all-out-war" ended, it looks like there will be another war happening in The Walking Dead Season 9. As Maggie (Lauren Cohan) planned to turn against Rick (Andrew Lincoln) with the help of Jesus (Tom Payne) and Daryl (Norman Reedus), it is a big question if they are all going to betray their leader.
Fans were shocked to know Daryl will take Maggie's side to prove Rick is wrong for not killing Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). Although it is undeniable Maggie wanted to take revenge for the death of her husband, Glenn (Steven Yeun), it is very surprising they might betray Andrew Lincoln's role in The Walking Dead Season 9.
So, to address the issue, Norman Reedus finally broke his silence about the possible betrayal his character Daryl will do to his best pal Rick in a post on Twitter. While sharing an Instagram link to his role's montage of video clips, he took advantage of the moment to answer the fans' concern. "No. I'm not turning on brother Rick, everyone chill," he tweeted. He also thanked everyone for the love he has been receiving.

To recall, Maggie explained Rick and Michonne were wrong for letting Negan live. "So we're gonna bide our time, wait for our moment, and then we're gonna show him," she said. As the scene was dimly lit, complete with threatening music in the background, fans quickly assumed Maggie might be The Walking Dead Season 9's next villain. Will there be a civil war between Rick and his group?
"It looks like that to me," the AMC show's executive producer Scott Gimple said on the Talking Dead, per Comic Book. He later praised Lauren Cohan for the amazing scene she did in The Walking Dead Season 8 finale, adding she went full Maggie Corleone.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Gimple also teased The Walking Dead Season 9 will evolve. The cast will once again face different problems, and this even includes their issues with one another. Also, fans are about to see a world that will be "very, very different."
AMC has given the go-signal for The Walking Dead Season 9, and it is set to premiere later this year.
