Fans have been waiting for the return of Song Joong Ki to the small screen after he refused a number of projects for Song Hye Kyo. In fact, there are reports the 32-year-old Descendants of the Sun actor refused to appear in the new Netflix drama, Kingdom.

Song Joong Ki was supposed to lead the Netflix drama, Kingdom, but his agency, Blossom Entertainment, revealed he rejected the project. The show tells the story of a prince who is tasked to protect his kingdom from a horde of zombies.

Blossom Entertainment admitted Song Joong Ki turned down Netflix and the role for Kingdom because of Song Hye Kyo. Allegedly, the Descendants of the Sun actor wanted to focus more on his then-soon-to-be wife as they were about to get married at the time. "Song Joong Ki has turned down his role in Kingdom," the agency confirmed, per Koreaboo.

Song Joong Ki was supposed to do Kingdom's production in October 2017. But, as his wedding with Song Hye Kyo was about to happen in the same month, he wanted to put all of his attention to their upcoming nuptial.

"We discussed Song Joong Ki's appearance, but they fell through," an insider from the Netflix drama revealed. The source also spilled the network was initially planning to the web series' production in September, but as they wanted to polish everything first, they moved the filming in October. As the show's casting process was "going by quickly," they started filming in no time.

It has been known that filming a television series requires the actors to spend their time doing the show for one whole year to complete its process. So, the thought of Song Joong Ki being away from Song Hye Kyo at the time of their wedding didn't seem ideal. Recently, Blossom Entertainment revealed one of Running Man's original cast members has no project set to do yet, but there are swirling rumors he might be once again seen on the small screen soon.

Song Joong Ki reportedly refused a number of "highly potential casting offers," but he might now be considering appearing in a new Korean drama with the working title Asadal. According to Koalas Playground, Song Hye Kyo's husband has been offered to take the lead role of the said show, although nothing has been confirmed yet.

Asadal is reportedly a "high-profile" project from Queen Seondeok, Tree with Deep Roots, and Six Flying Dragons' screenwriters Kim Young Hyun and Park Sang Yeon. This project, which is a tvN historical drama, too, has been offered to Song Joong Ki's Descendants of the Sun co-actress Kim Ji Won.

Hello K-pop reported that Starship Entertainment confirmed Kim Ji Won is currently reviewing tvN's casting offer. So, if he and Song Joong Ki accept these roles, this would be the Descendants of the Sun stars' possible reunion
