Iron Man 4 has long been rumored to be happening soon. Unfortunately, it appears that Robert Downey Jr.’s fourth solo Marvel film is facing more problems than progress. In fact, after the veteran actor confirmed the existence of Iron Man 4, nothing much was said about it. Will it ever happen?
If the fate of Iron Man 4 lies in Robert Downey Jr.’s hands, then it is never going to happen. The 53-year-old actor has said multiple times that he is absolutely done playing the beloved superhero.
In fact, Robert Downey Jr. already noted that he would want to explore other roles while he still has the energy to portray them. He also said that he's already willing to give up his famous red metal suit before it gets embarrassing.

Although there is still no official announcement about the confirmation or cancellation of Iron Man 4, one thing is for sure—the first film started it all for the other Marvel superheroes. And to celebrate Iron Man’s 10th anniversary, screenwriter David Hayter revealed a lot about how the movie all began and even shared something that Robert Downey Jr. and Tony Stark have in common.

"One of the issues we discussed in the room between David Goyer and Mark Protosevich and myself was, 'How do you retain the fun of it and the audience sympathy when the lead character is an alcoholic?' Which we felt was a key aspect to his character,” David Hayter shared. “Robert Downey Jr. was so perfect for that because he's had his own issues there and yet he remains so charming and so lovable and charismatic and it really was the ideal casting."
With that said, it is quite clear why people are so enamored with Tony Stark a.k.a. Iron Man. Unfortunately, there is still no update about Iron Man 4 as of this writing.
