Girls' Generation YoonA To Star In Romantic Comedy Film 'Exit' Along With Korean Actor Jo Jung Suk

Girls' Generation idol YoonA's schedule is packed and flowing. Aside from her working with a K-pop band, an ongoing Korean variety show, and fan meetings, she is also set to do another movie this year.

YoonA and Korean actor Jo Jung Suk have been cast to portray the lead characters in the action/romcom movie titled Exit. The film is about former schoolmates who must escape the city before they fall ill from the from a mysterious poisonous gas.

Exit's story follows Yong Nam (Jo Jung Suk), who has been unemployed for years, and his college junior, Ui Joo (YoonA). The two graduated from the same university. They will reunite when Yong-Nam holds a 70th birthday party for his mother at a convention hall, but the celebration turns into a disaster when a mysterious toxic gas spreads throughout the city. It will be interesting to see how the two will find ways to flee the city.

According to Soompi, Exit will be the official film debut of director Lee Sang Keun. The director, a graduate of the Korea National University of Arts, had previously gained recognition from the Mise-En-Scène Short Film Festival.

Actor Jo Jung Suk rose to fame when he portrayed a supporting role in the 2012 box office movie Architecture 101. He also appeared in a number of hit K-dramas, including The King 2 Hearts, You're the Best, Lee Soon-shin, and Oh My Ghost.

YoonA, on the other hand, continues to show her charm in the popular TV show Hyori's Homestay Season 2. She has been praised for her patience and hard work in the show. It was also revealed in the variety show that YoonA can also cook delicious food. The K-pop idol has prepared meals for the houseguests on several occasions.

YoonA, whose real name is Im Yoon-ah, also appeared in a lead role in The King In Love last year and in the action-thriller film Confidential Assignment. Among her other notable shows are You Are My Destiny, Love Rain, Prime Minister and I, and in The K2 in 2016.

Meanwhile, YoonA is also preparing for an Asian tour this month. The singer's agency, SM Entertainment, announced that her first fan meet, titled "So Wonderful Day #Story_1," will be in Seoul on May 20. YoonA will also see her fans in Thailand in July and Hong Kong in August.

As for YoonA's bandmates in Girls' Generation, they are also busy with their solo careers. Yuri has been cast in JTBC's Talk To You 2, Sunny joined the Video Star, while Hyoyeon had recently been introduced as DJ Hyo.

Exit has completed pre-production and will begin filming this summer. It is scheduled to hit cinemas in summer 2019.
