Hello Venus' Alice Wins Lawsuit Against A Entertainment
Fans of Hello Venus' will find something to rejoice about, as the South Korean girl group member Song Joohee a.k.a Alice wins her lawsuit against her former agency.
The former agency, known as A Entertainment consequently had to pay Alice a total sum of 80 million KRW or an equivalent of $74,731 as compensation. Alice reportedly won the lawsuit just on April 30 after years of dealing with the business practices of A Entertainment which the celebrity did not favor.
Basically, the first to file a lawsuit between Alice and A Entertainment was the latter, where the agency filed against Alice several years back. This was on the grounds that Alice violated their contract and did not attend a scheduled performance and event based on A Entertainment's statements.
Alice then won after the court ruled in favor of her. The verdict was that despite the agency claiming that Alice violated the contract and failed to adhere to her schedule, A Entertainment was not able to provide any substantial proof and evidence of this malpractice from the star. Ultimately, the agency's claim was not accepted, leading to their loss form the very own lawsuit that they filed.
Historically, Alice did not really have a pleasant stint with A Entertainment even prior to the lawsuit. Back in 2009 during the beginning of her career with the agency under the stage name Ora, Alice began growing distant towards them. There were several reported instances of Alice requesting an outfit change due to their revealing designs, but her concerns were ignored.
Some of Alice's music videos were even rated 19+ because of the provocative nature of her outfits. Consequently, Alice filed for the nullification of her contract in 2011 for reasons that she did not receive proper training and dorm. She also claimed that the CEO and the company itself made insulting demands such as serving in an adult entertainment industry in addition to the revealing outfits.
Thankfully, Alice bounced back from the setbacks caused by her former Agency when she signed up with Fantagio and promoted her now current girl group Hello Venus. Hopefully, Alice will serve as a good example for other celebrities experiencing the same predicament with their agencies.
