'Arrow' Season 6 Finale Spoiler: Oliver Might Lose The City & His Freedom

Oliver Queen might lose his city and his freedom in the 'Arrow' Season 6 finale. Fans are warned to expect the unexpected.

Arrow Season 6 is nearing its finale. Fans have been warned that the final episode of the current season will be different from the past season-enders of The CW series.

Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) will engage in an epic battle with villain Ricardo Diaz (Kirk Acevedo). Arrow executive producer Marc Guggenheim warned fans to expect the unexpected and "unprecedented" season finale.

He explained that the sixth installment finale is something that viewers will never anticipate but also assured that it will still have a cliffhanger. Guggenheim hinted that it would not be a traditional cliffhanger, and added that it is close to what fans had seen in the Season 1 finale.

"There's a couple of twists, there's a couple of things that we're doing that are not only very unexpected, but also unprecedented not just for Arrow, but for the other DC superhero shows as well," he told Entertainment Weekly.

Many speculate that Oliver could end up in jail at the end of the season as the finale title "Life Sentence" suggests. The series protagonist has never been in prison, but this storyline is not new to The CW. Barry Allen in The Flash spent half of its current season in jail.

Amell also previously teased that what will happen in Season 6 will carry on in the next installment. He said Arrow Season 7 will have a twist that "can never undo."

Meanwhile, Caity Lotz is reprising her role as Sara Lance in the Arrow Season 6 finale. Sara is going back to present-day Star City, possibly to help her friend and ex-lover Oliver Queen in his battle against Diaz. Lotz last appeared in Arrow in November 2015 except for the crossover episodes with her Legends of Tomorrow co-stars.

As for Episode 21, titled "Docket No. 11-19-41-73," Oliver will stand trial as Green Arrow. In a sneak peek for the episode, Laurel Lance, a.k.a. Black Siren (Katie Cassidy), will be Diaz's star witness. However, toward the end of the trailer, a new character who could save Oliver from being sentenced to life in prison emerged-Tommy Merlyn (Colin Donnell) as Green Arrow. Watch the trailer below.

Oliver's best friend Tommy would appear in next week's episode but how he is not dead is still unclear. It can be recalled that Tommy died in Season 1. Donnell appeared in several episodes since but only through flashbacks, in Oliver's hallucinations, and as an Earth-X doppelganger.

Arrow Season 6 airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on the CW. The season finale airs on May 17.
