‘Homeland’ Remains A Possibility After Season 8, Showtime Has Yet To Make A Decision
As fans await "Homeland" Season 8, the main lead Claire Danes has revealed that this could be their last season.
Danes confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that this is the end of the Showtime's series. However, the network hasn't really come to a decision beyond Season 8 which means that there is still a possibility that the series will get picked up for a ninth season.
On the other hand, Danes said that she's ready should the series end for good in Season 8.
"I'll be ready. She's a lot, this Carrie fricking Mathison. I mean, she's under constant duress. I mean, it's a workout. So, I'll be ready for a reprieve from that. But, you know, I've never done anything this long," she said.
Executive producer and writer Alex Gansa is also set to depart the series. he said he's certain that this is his last year as part of "Homeland." However, he also said that he doesn't know Danes or Mandy Patikin's decision yet if they are still up for another season or not. Gansa also said that the series has already been written in which Season 8 is designed to be the end of the story. Still, he said that should Danes and Patinkin decide to continue on with the series, there will be room for that to happen.
When it comes to the show's final season, Gansa revealed that they will be making major changes that will include a return to an overseas setting and a major time jump.
"We get to play this last season in D.C. with the intention of taking us overseas for one last chapter. Season 8 will be overseas somewhere. We get to play a story with larger national stakes in Season 7 and we'll go back to a smaller intelligence-based season in 8. We get to pull out all the stops this year and then get to the emotional heart of things in season 8," he said.
He reassures that everything will be fresh in Season 8. For now, you can catch the "Homeland" Season 7 finale on April 29.
