Robert Downey Jr Almost Confirms ‘Iron Man 4,’ The Actor Hints His Probable Exit From MCU

The making of Iron Man 4 is not confirmed, but Robert Downey Jr has recently teased on the possibility of his returning in the movie. While Marvel lovers are counting days for the premiere of Avengers: Infinity War in April, the new update is undoubtedly an addition to their excitement.

There is a small doubt that Downey Jr's character, Tony Stark (aka Iron Man) will have a vital in still-untitled Avengers 4, which is expected to premiere on May 3, 2019. He has filmed the sequel at the same time with Avengers: Infinity War, but the Marvel enthusiasts are excited to know if there are positive chances for him to star in Iron Man 4. However, in a recent media conversation, the Kiss Kiss Bang Bang actor said that he is keeping his options open.

His comment is more than solace to the global fans who have been waiting for a minute update on the making of Iron Man 4. Since he said that he has kept his options open, it means if everything falls in line with the movie, he would surely play the role of the protagonist.

Will the actor say goodbye to MCU?

However, now it is time for Downey Jr to discontinue Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), what is understood from his statement. The actor also revealed that he is not too worried about bidding goodbye to his much-acclaimed character Tony Stark. But he added that he might continue his work with Marvel even when he becomes too old for the job.

"I could stay, spiking it in the end zone until I have to be carried off. I'm looking forward to whatever resolution is in the cards," Downey Jr opined, as reported by Comic Book Movie.

Now the question is if Iron Man 4 is a part of MCU's plan. Since the superb success of Iron Man 3 in 2013, fans have always wanted to know whether the fourth sequel is in production or not. While Marvel Studios is always silent on it, the actor has always shown his interest in playing the lead role. It might take more time to confirm the making of the fourth sequel, but the viewers can enjoy Downey Jr's role as Iron Man in the upcoming movie Avengers: Infinity War next month.
