BTS Update: 'Mic Drop' Singers Fastest K-Pop Group To Get 300M Views For 'DNA' Music Video
BTS made another record as its "DNA" music video became the fastest K-pop group clip that has reached 300 million views on YouTube. And the South Korean boy band is the only one who has made this milestone fast.
On March 7, "DNA" achieved its new record for becoming the first BTS' music video to have 300 million views. It is the fastest time that a K-pop group attained this achievement for only five months and 16 days, according to Soompi.
The song also holds to be the music video from any K-pop group that gets the highest number of views in just 24 hours. As of this writing, it has more than 3.1 million views, 4 million likes, and 1.3 million comments.
For the record, there are only two other K-pop group music videos that got 300 million views so far. The first one is TWICE's "TT" that has reached the previous fastest time record with 13 months and 28 days. The second one is Big Bang's "Fantastic Baby" that also has more than 300 million views.
"DNA" is from the group's mini-album, Love Yourself: Her. It was recently released in September 2017. Aside from being YouTube's most viewed music video, it is also BTS' first song that made its way to Billboard's Hot 100 chart and stayed on the list for four weeks.
"DNA" music video has also won Best Music Video award from Melon Music Awards 2017. The group also got a number of honors at the recent Seoul Music Awards.
Additionally, BTS' new achievement comes after its member, J-Hope's, newly released mixtape Hope World managed to hit a lot of records on Billboard charts. On Monday, March 6, the album debuted at the number 63 spot of Billboard 200, which is the highest rank a K-pop solo artist has attained so far.
The "hixtape" also managed to be on the top spot of Billboard's World Albums chart. It also got the number 16 rank of the Top Album Sales chart.
Three of J-Hope's songs from Hope World have been included on Billboard's World Digital Song Sales chart. "Day Dream" gets the number three spot followed by "Hope World" at number 16. Lastly, "Hangsang" sits at number 23 spot.
