Eminem Dethrones Taylor Swift; 'River' Singer Becomes RIAA’s Second-Highest Selling Singles Artist

Eminem is now the new Recording Industry Association of America’s second-highest selling singles artist of all time. The "River" rapper dethroned top music artists like Taylor Swift and Katy Perry.

According to a report by HipHopDX, Eminem is next to Rihanna when it comes to the highest-selling music artists of all time. It seems like his fans have to do a lot with his new accomplishment. Thanks to a recent set of digital single certifications that were provided by the organization.

The "Rap God" rapper who is nearly closing on a 20-year anniversary of his 1999 major debut album has already reached 107.5 million certified units of streams and sales. He has overtaken pop artists Taylor Swift and Katy Perry, who are currently occupying the third and fourth spots respectively.

Eminem was issued by RIAA with more than 40 new digital single certifications last February 28. His songs like, “Love the Way You Lie,” went 12x platinum, and “Lose Yourself,” went 10x platinum or diamond certified. These recent additions mean that the "Cleaning Out My Closet" rapper is by the far the RIAA’s highest selling rapper of all time, with Drake (55 million), Lil Wayne (32 million) and Kanye West (51.5 million) as of the moment.

According to the publication, despite Eminem's success with his singles, the top-selling rapper still has a long way to go to be #1 in the RIAA album sales category. Em's 44 million units are far behind from The Beatles, who held the top spot in the album sales category with 178 million or more certified units. Em’s still the number one rapper on the list, but he remains behind the music artists like Elvis Presley (136 million), Elton John (78 million) and Kenny G (48 million).

Em's latest accomplishment has circulated online and 50 Cent even congratulated the rapper from Detroit on Instagram saying, "107.5 million records sold by himself only Elvis Presley beating EMINEM. #POWER."

There's no doubt that Eminem is still the number one rapper in the world.
