Miley Cyrus has opened up about how her life has evolved since her raunchy 2013 MTV Video Music Awards performance with Robin Thicke. But it is not a bad life-changing event that many expected. In fact, it did good things to her life.

Back in 2013, fans were shocked when Cyrus performed a raunchy rendition of her hit single "We Can't Stop" with Thicke. The 25-year-old singer admitted that her act did spark controversy, not to mention the introduction of "twerking," but it also helped her mature. Cyrus said she reflected and decided to use the opportunity to do something better out of it.

"Not only was culture changed, but my life and career were changed forever. It inspired me to use my platform for something much bigger. If the world is going to focus on me and what I am doing, then what I am doing should be impactful and it should be great. It encouraged me to be more involved, which then led me to start my own organization, which is the Happy Hippie Foundation, " she told Wonderland magazine in an interview (via Entertainment Tonight).

Since her infamous MTV moment, Cyrus has become a passionate advocate for the LGBTQ and homeless communities through her Happy Hippie Foundation. Cyrus will be on the cover of Wonderland magazine spring 2018 issue.

Miley Cyrus Acting Career Plan

The singer admitted that at the moment, acting is not on her priority list. Cyrus said the tedious process of filmmaking doesn't appeal to her right now. The "Malibu" songstress said she is very much happy and contented with where her life is right now and she doesn't want to pretend to be someone else.

"My attention span doesn't love the idea of focusing and being on one project for so many months, especially being a character and not getting to be myself for that amount of time. I get really deep into the characters I play, just like I do with music. So then it becomes hard for me to relate ... So for right now, I am so content with where I am, being someone else doesn't sound that fun to me," Cyrus explained.

The singer famously starred in Disney's family-oriented show, Hannah Montana. She also starred in The Last Song along with boyfriend Liam Hemsworth.

Liam Hemsworth's Role on Miley Cyrus' Life Changes

Her MTV VMA Awards' raunchy performance is not the only thing that propelled Cyrus' transformation. It is Liam Hemsworth, too. In a previous interview, she talked about her reconciliation with Hemsworth and how The Hunger Games actor inspired her, particularly her music. Her single, "Malibu," is about her relationship with Hemsworth.

"They're going to talk about me if I come out of a restaurant with Liam. So why not put the power back in my relationship and say, 'This is how I feel'?" she told Billboard back in May 2017.

The two split in September 2013 less than a month after Cyrus' "twerk." They rekindled their romance in 2016. Since then, many of their close friends attested that Cyrus has changed. Her wild behavior became sweet and she has been acting like a devoted housewife to Hemsworth.

The actor also made her quit smoking. Cyrus admitted that she quit smoking and maintain sobriety because of the people that she loves. "I like to surround myself with people that make me want to get better, more evolved, open. And I was noticing, it's not the people that are stoned. I want to be super clear and sharp because I know exactly where I want to be," she told Billboard.
