A lot of fans were surprised not to see BTS at the recent 2018 Winter Olympics closing ceremonies. However, although they weren't seen in the most special event, the South Korean boy band was announced to be nominated at Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards.

The "Mic Drop" singers are nominated for Favorite Global Music Star category. They will be against big pop stars like Taylor Swift for North America, Black Coffee for Africa, and Lorde for Australia and New Zealand. Also, in the same category that they will be facing are Maluma for South America, The Vampus for U.K., and Zara Larsson for Europe.

Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards' Favorite Global Music Star category was launched in 2017, Soompi reported. In fact, the first ever Asian nominated for the said honor was Big Bang. Now, it is the time for BTS to represent the most-populous continent.

The ARMY and other BTS fans can start voting for their favorite South Korean boy band in Favorite Global Music Star category starting on March 5. Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards' ceremony, on the other hand, will be held on March 24.

Meanwhile, the 2018 Winter Olympics closing ceremonies were graced by known K-pop stars like EXO and CL. However, fans were surprised not to see BTS at the event. So, in an interview with the director of the PyeongChang Olympics' Song Seung Hwan on the radio show Kim Eo Jun's New Factory, he revealed that they were actually invited along with Psy.

According to Song Seung, via Comic Book, Psy was a little hesitant to perform at the big event after being criticized at the 2014 Asian Games. "He himself was burdened by the thought of continuing to perform 'Gangnam Style,'" he said. So, they just included his rearranged "Gangnam Style" during the opening ceremony.

Alternatively, BTS' busy schedule forbade them to appear at the 2018 Winter Olympics closing ceremonies. If truth be told, they were already included on the Song's list of possible performers. "We sent an offer to BTS early last year, but they have so many schedules abroad," Song Seung explained. At the time of the big event, the group was said to be out of the country.
