Verizon has a new roaming phone plan for their customers called TravelPass that launched on Thursday.

Verizon's new plan will allow customers to use their remaining data allowance, call minutes and texts when travelling abroad. Customers that have unlimited text and voice plan are also eligible for this offer. The new roaming data plan will costs $2 per day for Canada and Mexico while it's $10 dollars for the other 65 countries, according to CNET.

Verizon will only charge a customer if they will use their phone in one of the TravelPass countries. Customers that are visiting Europe for couple of weeks will immediately be charged $10 on top of their bill of one existing phone line.

A Verizon spokesperson said that most of their customers, "will experience 4G or 3G speeds when abroad," as reported by CNN Money.

"Unlike other providers, Verizon doesn't use gimmicks like 'free data roaming' to lure you in and then put you on the slowest network and restrict your data use while outside of the U.S.," the statement continued.

TravelPass roaming data plan is the counterpart of T-Mobile's offer of free unlimited data usage for subscribers that are travelling abroad, but with a maximum of 2G speed connection, which is good for sending emails or light internet surfing. Their international plan costs $15 for a 100 MB data, $25 for 250 MB which is good for a week, and a 14-day plan of $50 with 500 MB, according to Ars Technica.

On the other hand, Verizon has a $40-plan for customers who have longer vacation days. The plan comes with 100 minutes of talk time, 100 texts and 100 MB of data allowance, according to CNN Money.

To activate TravelPass, customers need to log in using Verizon's website or mobile app to enable the international service option. Extra charges will only apply for the roaming data plan after 24 hours that the customer made a call, text or used data, reported CNET.
