South Korean ‘Barbie Doll’ Han Chae Young To Host New Beauty Show ‘Take Care Of My Dressing Table’ Where She Shares Tips Along With Beauty Experts
South Korean actress Han Chae Young is set to host a new beauty television show called "Take Care of My Dressing Table" where she will share various beauty and styling tips, along with the industry's experts and professionals, reported Korea JoongAng Daily on Tuesday.
Han, who is known in South Korea as "Barbie Doll" attributed to her long legs, pretty face and slim figure, has appeared in Korean reality television shows, but will be hosting for the first time as the show starts to air in December.
She will also be appearing in the upcoming "Beauty Master", a Korean web drama series about beauty industry professionals, which will be first aired in China.
South Korea is big in the beauty industry mostly due to the ever-growing beauty standards in the country that often times put so much pressure not only in women, but to men as well.
According to Daily Mail on June 4, 2013, South Korea has surpassed Brazil as the world's plastic surgery capital and is now the nation with the highest number of cosmetic procedures done per capita. Double eyelid surgery, which puts a Caucasian crease on Asian eyes, is now reportedly as common as taking a trip to the dentist.
"In my case, I was too tall, too fat, and too dark - traits that are not typically considered beautiful by Korean standards," said Ashley Perez, a Cuban, Filipino and Korean American teacher who has taught in Daegu for a year. "In many ways, being partially Korean actually made my experience more difficult than that of my foreign white friends."
Perez also noted how flyers promoting plastic surgery were handed outside the school gates, even to younger students.
"Whereas in the United States, I'm smaller than the average woman - size eight bottoms, medium tops and a size 8.5 shoe," Perez added, "in Korea, I truly felt like a whale."
Aside from double eyelid surgery, the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons noted that lipoplasty and nose jobs are among the most common surgical procedures done in South Korea for aesthetic purposes.
