'Last Jedi' TV Footage Shows New Rey And 'The Force' Tree
"Star Wars: The Last Jedi" is about to hit the theaters real soon, but Lucasfilm can't seem to resist releasing one more teaser about the mystery-shrouded installment. This time, it involves Rey (Daisy Ridley) and a new, but enigmatic element of the "Star Wars" universe.
A new TV footage during halftime of Monday Night Football showed Rey in a very curious environment: Ahch-To, which is the home of the Force tree. Rey on her pilgrimage to Ahch-To has sent fans speculating whether she's completing one of those famous Jedi tests, similar to what the young Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) did at the cave on Dagobah. One can also not help thinking Rey's time at Ahch-To might end up bad, as the thick fog and the dark environment has some troubling undertones.
The Force tree is a new but significant element in the sci-fi franchise. Rosie Knight for the Nerdist wrote that these mystical elements will even change the fates of Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), Rey, Luke, and even Kylo Ren (Adam Driver). She also hinted that the Force tree could very well be the hope for a new Jedi generation as well.
But just like all "Star Wars" rumors, everyone would have to wait until the movie that's being referenced gets released soon. 'Star Wars' also did not release anything that's too revealing for "The Force Awakens" or "Rogue One," which both debut in December.
But you can trust its cast members to tease about the movie's plot a little bit. Earlier, actress Laura Dern, who plays Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo, revealed on "'Ellen" that her character may not be into females. But aside from her incredibly pink/purple hair and sexual preference, it remains to be seen how significant Admiral Holdo is in the "Last Jedi" plot, and whether her sexuality will even be discussed in the film.
