‘The Blacklist Season 5’ Episode 5 Spoilers: Someone Close To Liz Dies
"The Blacklist" season 5 episode 5 sees Director Harold Cooper (Harry Lennix) and his team trailing after an international terrorist whose main expertise is making bombs. The trailer for the episode teases an explosion. It also teases that someone close to Liz (Megan Boone) dies as a result. Who could be this person?
Titled "Ilyas Surkov," the synopsis for "The Blacklist" season 5 episode 5 reveals that it is Red (James Spader) who provides classified information regarding the whereabouts of an international terrorist. When the team decides to take on the case, it pits them against a rival unit from the CIA. Meanwhile, Red and Hawkins (guest star Aida Turturro) discuss their new business venture at the sidelines of the chase for the terrorist. Tom (Ryan Eggold) goes undercover in search of information.
A more detailed "The Blacklist" season 5 episode 5 is teased in the trailer for the next episode. The video shows how the team plans their strategy against the bomber. They discuss intensely as this terrorist is identified as a possible threat against the US. Liz is shown pleading for his father to divulge any particular lead that can bring them to their target. Red promises that he will do what he can. At one point, Liz and Donald (Diego Klattenhoff) are seen closing onto their target. An explosion happens and a dead person in the body bag is shown. The look on Liz's face suggests that the dead person is someone close to her dearly.
"The Blacklist" season 5 will see more of the father and daughter relationship between Red and Liz and how this will affect the agents. As what the series creator, Jon Bokenkam, told the Entertainment Weekly in September, Liz' dilemma between being an agent a daughter of a criminal is "going to be a season-long struggle" for her. As for the whole team, the threat that they will continue to face is connected to that of Reddington. Bokenkam explained that while the team grapples for survival, Red aims for rebuilding.
