Billboard’s World Albums Chart: BTS, GOT7, EXO's Lay, NU'EST - Who’s Number One?
BTS' "Love Yourself: Her," GOT7's new mini album "7 for 7," EXO member Lay's "LAY 02 Sheep" and NU'EST W's mini album "W'HERE" all made it to this week's Billboard's World Album chart. While these K-Pop artists brought recognition to the entire Korean Pop Culture, it remains interesting to know who made it to the top spot. For the week, it was BTS who clinched the number one spot for the fourth week in the row with "Love Yourself: Her." GOT7's "7 for 7," featuring the track "You Are," landed at number two on this week's Billboard's World Albums Chart. EXO Lay's album "LAY 02 SHEEP" was at number four while NU'EST W's mini album "W'HERE" debuted at number 5.
Meanwhile, BTS continued to tease fans with mysterious blimps on October 16. One blimp had Jin's photo was flying over Gwacheon. It also has the caption "LOVE MYSELF" and "I Will Always Love Army." A second blimp is flying over Busan. It has Jimin's photo with the caption: "LOVE MYSELF" and "I love the Sea of Busan." According to Soompi, BigHit Entertainment has already confirmed that the blimps were connected to a new BTS project of which specifics will be revealed at a later date.
GOT7's top ranking in the Billboard's World Album chart subsequently came after they dropped the "You Are" lyric video. It contains behind the scenes of GOT7 filming of the official music video. GOT7 member BamBam had personally produced the video to the delight of their fans.
As for EXO's Lay, he released "LAY 02 Sheep" on October 7, the same day as his birthday. So the song being at Billboard's World Albums Chart seemed to be an extended birthday celebration for him. NU'EST W's mini album "W'HERE" meanwhile, sold over 200,000 albums just within the first week. This was an achievement especially that they only sold 600 copies of their fifth mini album "Canvas" according to Soompi.
