'Attack on Titan 2': Video Game To Feature Even Scarier Titans

Attack on Titan 2

If the first game was all about world-building, getting used to new gear and introducing its characters, "Attack on Titan 2" is when the real action begins. Koei Tecmo has already announced that the video game adaptation of the popular anime/manga will get the second installment and the studio promised that it is going to be more intense than its predecessor.

Producer Hisashi Koinuma and manager Hideo Suzuki of Omega Force shared that the sequel will use the widely-popular first game as a foundation and build up according to it. Moreover, because the 2016 video game gave more focus on the Omni-Directional Mobility Gear used to move within the walled city and attack titans, the second game will be centered on storytelling.

"Because we really focused on the anime fans, the difficulty level [for 'Attack on Titan'] was a little easier than what traditional game fans are used to," Koinuma explained to Polygon. "The threatening menace of the Titans wasn't as strong, so for the second game we're currently working on that."

That said, players can expect "Attack on Titan 2" to be more challenging than the first one. He added that the Titans in the sequel will be a lot scarier and have a lot more variation.

He cited that the game currently in development will be a lot like the original manga wherein there is a sense that the hero - the player - is constantly in danger. " You don't know when the Titans will attack, you're constantly in this state of fear," he added.

"Attack on Titan 2" game will cover the events of the anime's rather short second season. The announcement trailer released earlier this year featured the Beast Titan, a mysterious, thinking titan that already appeared in the anime as well as the revelation of the identity of the Colossal and the Armored titans.

"Attack on Titan 2" video game is expected to be available by early 2018. It will be released on PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch.
