Aerosmith cancelled their tour dates in 2016 because Steven Tyler wants to focus on his solo career, said guitarist Brad Whitford in a recent interview, reports Rolling Stone.

"It's unfortunate," says Whitford in an interview with Billboard. "We kind of feel a little bit abandoned by him.

"I guess he seems to think his solo career is going to go great guns, and he doesn't seem to realize that -- in my opinion -- his fans around the globe want to see him in the context of Aerosmith and don't really care for whatever he thinks he's gonna do," he further added.

Tyler has been recording his country-influenced album in Nashville and plans to release it in 2016, according to sources.

"Love Is Your Name" is the first single from the set, produced by Dan Huff. The song was released mid-May and peaked at number 19 on the Hot Country Songs chart.

Steven Tyler has also been seen making rounds in different country music awards shows. He also previewed some of the songs at a gig in New York, in September, reveals NME.

"I grew up in the woods of Hampshire," said Tyler to Rolling Stone in an interview last year. "I have more country in me than people think."

In the past year, Tyler has performed with country stars including Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley and Jana Kramer.

Steven has also signed with record label Big Machine.

On Aug. 7, Aerosmith ended their Blue Army Tour at the Pro Football Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Canton, Ohio. The group however, is expected to play in South America early 2016.

Whitford also is working on an album with Ted Nugent singer and guitarist, Derek St. Holmes.

The two have reunited since 1980, when Whitford St. Holmes was launched. The two will hit the road on Nov. 12 for a 10-day tour in Milwaukee. After touring, the two will return to the studio to record more material.

Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford and St. Holmes wrote all nine songs for "Reunion."
