Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and the rest of the pack are standing up against Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) in "The Walking Dead" Season 8. Chandler Riggs, the young actor who plays the role of Carl in the hit zombie TV series, revealed what fans can expect in their anticipated return on AMC.

Last season, Negan, the leader of the Saviors, terrorized television and the whole world. He killed two fan-favorites: Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) and Glenn (Steven Yeun). However, it looks like the blood bat is not over in the upcoming season of the zombie series.

Riggs teased that Rick and his group are fighting back. But, do not expect an easy win.

"Season 8 was all about building up and getting everyone ready to fight against Negan, and this season there's going to be lots of explosions, lots of killing, a lot more Negan," the actor told Triple J, an Australian radio station (via Den of Geek). "Yeah, lots of fighting, lots of cool stuff. It's really, really fun this season."

The previous season of "The Walking Dead" was the beginning of the war between the Alexandra, the Hilltop and the Kingdom alliance against Negan's Saviors. However, the upcoming Season 8 will go back to basics and focus on its lead character, Rick.

Show executive producer, Greg Nicotero, shared to TV Guide that the opening scene of Season 7 will be a shot of its main character. "We start Episode 8.01 on a close-up of Rick Grimes and we really get a sense that he's driving our story, not Negan," he stated.

This was already teased in the first trailer of the zombie series released at San Diego Comic Con earlier this year. Many believe that this shot was inspired by a similar scene from the comics that happened when the All Out War was over.

The anticipated eighth season of "The Walking Dead" premieres on AMC on Oct. 22. Watch the trailer below.
