Did The New 'One Punch Man' Manga Already Introduce Saitama's Father?
Since "One Punch Man" has gone through a hiatus after Season 1, many rumors about what might happen in the next installment of the superhero anime are floating around the web. One of which is this new theory from a fan that proposes that, perhaps, the manga series has already introduced someone very important in the life of its unbeatable protagonist, Saitama. Particularly, the theory posits that Blast, the top hero of the S-class, is the bald-headed caped crusader's father.
For the uninitiated, Blast has been mentioned both in the anime and the manga series but has not appeared in any part of the franchise until the 106th Chapter of ONE's webcomic. He shares a few similarities with Saitama; aside from the fact that both are some of the strongest superheroes in their world, Blast also wears a cape similar to Saitama. This new character also does not take his duty as a savior and protector seriously.
However, Blast does have one advantage over Saitama: the former is recognizable thanks to his spiky black hair. Whereas Saitama lost all his hair from his intense superhero training.
As reported by mokugyo of Manga.Tokyo, these similarities between the two heroes made some fans believe that, perhaps, Blast is Saitama's father. As the writer pointed out, a flashback scene showed a powerful young man from 18 years ago and, because Saitama is now 25 years old in the manga, it, therefore, could not be him.
The writer also did the math and theorize that, if Blast in "One Punch Man," he probably is now in his '50s. It would explain his absence from the Hero Association.
Whether this is true or not, unfortunately, there is no way to tell. However, considering Saitama's similarities with Blast, making the latter the former's son would not be too far of a stretch.
"One Punch Man" Season 2 is already in development. Fans can expect new episodes to be released in 2018.
