The man behind the "Metal Gear" franchise, Hideo Kojima, has a new project. Called "Death Stranding," the new war/horror video game involves A-list names such as Mads Mikkelsen, Norman Reedus and Guillermo del Toro. However, what exactly will it be about?

Recently, the legendary video game creator penned a lengthy essay for The Rolling Stone where he briefly talked about "Death Stranding." While he did not divulge the game's entire plot, he did give a hint at what the game play will look like.

Kojima explained that most video games available in the market right now are still all about "players with sticks fighting each other." His new project under his own production studio, Kojima Productions, aims to set itself apart by focusing on building connections, instead of forging competition.

"We are ready for a game not based on competition, but on the rope that will bring good to the player and make connections," he wrote. "We don't need a game about dividing players between winners and losers, but about creating connections at a different level."

Whether "Death Stranding" will have an online component that will require players to team-up and work together or single-player story mode remains to be seen. However, the upcoming video game is described as an open-world action so fans can expect combat and some form of violence.

Details about the video game remain scarce, but the people involved in its development has nothing but good things to say about Kojima. Mikkelsen who is set to return to doing motion capture work for his character said at a comic convention (via Comicbook.com) that the video game creator is an "inspiring man" and his brain "is working on a different level."

Meanwhile, Reedus told CNet that "Death Stranding" is "mind-blowing." He has already seen a peek into what Kojima has planned and was simply blown away.

"It's unreal," "The Walking Dead" actor assured. "People will do whatever he wants because he's a visionary."
