Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Will Nebula be able to fulfill her destiny and kill her own adoptive father, the Mad Titan Thanos? The "Guardians of the Galaxy" star Karen Gillan disses about the future of her character in the upcoming "Avengers: Infinity War."

By now, every Marvel fans already know that the "Guardians of the Galaxy" will join the Avengers in their war against Thanos and Nebula has been an honorary member of the group after helping her sister, Gamora (Zoe Saldana), fight Ego (Kurt Russell). Nebula, in the comics, also played an important part in the battle of the Earth's Mightiest Heroes against Thanos.

While Gillan cannot divulge what role her character, Nebula, will play in "Avengers: Infinity War." However, the former "Doctor Who" star was able to talk about the journey the that the blue space assassin will take in the upcoming movie.

"Without giving away any spoilers, we're definitely going to continue the arc for Nebula and find out more about her past," the Scottish actor tells SyFy. "And actually, we're going to find out that it's even worse than we know. And we're going to see her confront all of it."

James Gunn's "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" was able to dive deeper into the story of Nebula and Gamora. The box office hit revealed that Thanos used to pit Nebula against Gamora and, because the former was stronger, the latter often lost. In order to make her on par with her sister, Thanos took Nebula's body apart and gave her "upgrades."

By the end of the movie, Nebula parted ways with Gamora. She swore to exact revenge on the Mad Titan Thanos.

"Avengers: Infinity War" and its still untitled sequel will likely see the completion of Nebula's story so far. It will be interesting to see how the character would react when she finally comes face-to-face with her adoptive father.

However, whether she will succeed in killing Thanos or succumb to his power, fans have to wait until next year to find out. "Avengers: Infinity War" will be released in theaters on May 4, 2018.
