Another familiar face might be popping into the TARDIS for one last hurrah. According to a new report, Jenna Coleman could reprise the role of Clara Oswald in the upcoming "Doctor Who" Christmas Special.

The news comes from Radio Times who reports that the long-running sci-fi series on the BBC has specifically asked the "Victoria" star to appear in Peter Capaldi's final episode as the Twelfth Doctor. So far, there is no official word about her involvement in the Christmas Special yet.

Her return would not exactly come as a surprise. Coleman's predecessor, Karen Gillan (Amy Pond), reappeared in "Time of the Doctor" to say goodbye to Matt Smith's Eleventh Doctor. The most recent companion, Pearl Mackie (Bill Potts), has also been confirmed in Capaldi's final adventure as the Twelfth Doctor.

Coleman also has always been open about the possibility of returning to "Doctor Who." While the  31-year-old actor has signed up to star in her own television series, she once stated in an interview with EW that she would be willing to reprise the role of Clara with the right story.

"Yeah, I would always be happy if there was a good story," she stated. "But I think we'll have to see what happens."

The "Doctor Who" Christmas Special does seem to be the right time and story for a much-awaited Clara return. In the episode titled "Twice Upon A Time," the Twelfth Doctor refuses to regenerate so the TARDIS takes him to the one person in the universe who could convince him that change is inevitable and not always a bad thing.

Capaldi's final adventure as the Twelfth Doctor will see him come face-to-face with the First Doctor played by David Bradley. "Twice Upon A Time" will also star frequent "Doctor Who" writer and "Sherlock" co-showrunner Mark Gatiss as a new character called "The Captain." It will air on the eve of Dec. 25 on BBC.

Capaldi will be succeeded by the first female actor to play the role of the Doctor, Jodie Whittaker. Meanwhile, "Broadchurch" creator Chris Chibnall will take over the showrunner duties from Steven Moffat starting next year.
