Fans should brace for a long wait ahead for Hideo Kojima's new video game, "Death Stranding." According to reports, actor Mads Mikkelsen is set to return to filming the performance capture for the game.

It has been a year since Kojima announced the development of an open-world horror-action adventure and, since then, has been one of the most anticipated games. "Death Stranding" was promised to be released sometime before 2019, but the game is far from being completed.

In fact, Mikkelsen ("Hannibal," "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story") reveals that he is about to return to film more performance capture for "Death Stranding." He shares the news during a fan convention this month where he also discussed how the project is different from working on a television series or film.

"It's enormously different," he told the crowd as per Comicbook.com. "The scenes are very small, it's very physical approach, you have a lot of cameras on, and you're in a green room."

While Mikkelsen is used to performing before a green screen having worked in "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" and "Doctor Strange," he explains that "Death Stranding" requires filming "all kinds of facial expressions and movements" that later on will be used in the game. Aside from Mikkelsen, the game will also feature the likeness and performances of Norman Reedus ("The Walking Dead") and Guillermo Del Toro ("Pacific Rim").

When asked if he will be willing to do performance capture for another video game in the future, Mikkelsen admits that he has to because he is not done filming for "Death Stranding." He did not divulge more details about the game, but he praised Kojima's genius and says he cannot wait to see what the video game maker has in store for everyone.

Reedus echoed the same sentiments for Kojima and "Death Stranding." In a conversation with CNet, the star of "The Walking Dead" star recounts when Kojima sought him out at San Diego Comic Con to show what he has created. Reedus calls Kojima a "visionary" and says he was blown away by what the video game legend has created.
