Google Onhub Router's First Over The Air Update Done; Details Released!
Google's Onhub Router received its very first over-the-air update for better device performance.
"OnHub often updates its router software with newly released features without any interruptions to your Wi-Fi," according to Google's Onhub site reported in Tech Times.
The device has a smart software that assigns the best suitable channel for your Wi-Fi to get faster and reliable connection, it also has the ability to prioritize a certain device by providing it fastest internet connection to run its tasks and the circular antenna's purpose is to cover all areas in the location with a reliable Wi-Fi connection, according to Google's Onhub website.
The first OTA or over-the-air update doesn't come with new features but instead to enhance its functionality and performance. The OTA update will gradually work into the devices will take a week before its availability. The users will be notified through the OnHub app once it's ready to update. The software update versions for the Google Onhub routers are 7077.122.2 to 7390.62.2, according to Tech Times.
The update includes antenna optimizations, expanded use of 5GHz channels, improved client device naming and improved port forwarding performance. The over-all update will enhance the device stability, reported in 9 to 5 Google.
The TP-Link router users have already received the new update as of recent reports while the ASUS model still doesn't have it. Feedbacks have been sent that the new update installs automatically without any problem and doesn't need to be rebooted.
The Google Onhub ASUS model costs $219.99 and is available in slate gray color while the TP-Link sells for $199.99 comes in black and blue variants. The ASUS model has a slight advantage compared to the latter one because of its Wave Control feature that enables the ability to prioritize a certain device by a wave of a hand over the router, according to Android Headlines.
