'Game of Thrones' Season 7 Spoilers: Kit Harington Shuts Down Romance Rumors Between Jon Snow, Daenerys Targaryen
Kit Harington has shut down rumors of a possible romance between his "Game of Thrones" character Jon Snow and Mother of Dragons Daenerys Targaryen. The actor recently said his romantic future remains bleak in the HBO series in its final two seasons.
According to Harington, it is unlikely that a romance will develop between Jon Snow and Daenerys even if it seems plausible that the two leaders will form an alliance in "Game of Thrones" Season 7. Harington said that his character remains loyal to his first love, the wildling Ygritte.
"No, Ygritte is the only woman for Jon," Harington said about his romantic future in "Game of Thrones" Season 7. "Always. There will be no one else."
In real life, Harington and actress Rose Leslie, who played Ygritte in "Game of Thrones" for several seasons, have been together for close to seven years. The pair is even reportedly planning to move in together soon and even attended the premiere of the GOT7 together, Harper's Bazaar reported.
While many fans are shipping a romantic pairing between Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen, it would also be very problematic as the show is set to reveal the true parentage of Jon Snow. It can be recalled that in "Game of Thrones" Season 6, it was finally revealed that Ned Stark's sister Lyanna Stark Jon's real mother. This is consistent with the fans' "R+L=J" theory which indicates that Jon is not the bastard son of Ned Stark but the offspring of Lyanna and Rhaegar Targaryen, Korea Portal reported.
If it is confirmed that Rhaegar is Jon's father, it would make him related by blood to Daenerys Targaryen since she is Rhaegar's sister. If this relationship is discovered with Jon's reunion with his brother Bran who has finally reached the wall, fans are hoping that it will strengthen the alliance between the two "Game of Thrones" protagonists as they reclaim the Iron Throne and battle the threat of the Night King.
