Panasonic introduced their first detachable rugged laptop, Toughbook 20 as the company claims it to be the first in the world.
The two in one hybrid laptop is meant to withstand outdoor environments especially for field workers in logistics, healthcare, transportations, public safety and even in military conditions.
The North America's Panasonic System Communications Company, Vice President of Business Mobility Group, Jan Ruderman said that," Our customers are constantly pushing the boundaries of how and where our devices are used," reported in Business Wire.
"As a truly customer-driven solution, the Toughbook 20 delivers what many of our customers are looking for - a single rugged device that delivers all the advantages of a fully functioning laptop and tablet," Ruderman added.
The Panasonic Toughbook 20 laptop can be used in several ways like, a tablet flipped up to 180 degrees, just a stand-alone tablet, convertible mode with an attached keyboard. Aside from the ones mentioned, it also has a built-in carry mode and a vehicle mode.
The Toughbook 20 is powered by an Intel Core vProTM Processor along with a 128 SSD and a choice of operating system of Windows 7 Professional or Windows 10 Pro. The laptop has an 8GB of RAM and a 10.1 inches outdoor viewable screen display with 1920 x 1200 resolution, according to Tech Times.
It is also MIL-STD-461F, MIL-STD-810G and IP65 certified to prove its rugged class. It can withstand harsh environment changes from heat to cold temperature, shocks, vibration and even electromagnetic interference.
Ruderman said that, "While relatively easy to design from a consumer perspective, the stresses a detachable laptop will endure in the environments in which our customers operate created serious design challenges," according to Business Wire.
"A significant amount of engineering went into this device to ensure it would deliver the reliability the Toughbook brand is known for," he continued.
The waterproof and dustproof Panasonic Toughbook 20 laptop will cost for about $3,099 and is expected to be released in February 2016, according to Tech Radar.
