OnePlus 5 News, Updates: Phone Has A Certain Degree Of Waterproof On It; CEO Confirms
The OnePlus 5 may have encountered a few bumps along the way. However, reports are suggesting that the mid-ranger may have a big secret that was not mentioned when it was introduced.
If Mdroid's report is anything to go by, it claims that the OnePlus 5 may have a bit of waterproof feature onto it. Moreover, there's quite a number of videos that are currently making rounds on the web where tech geeks and users of the newly released handset are putting it to such watery test.
YouTube tech vlogger Dom Esposito was just one of folks who tried out if such OnePlus 5 rumors were true. Albeit being uneasy with the tests, the tech buff subjected his very own unit to several waterproof tests. True enough, the device passed every single abuse.
Esposito then concluded that the OnePlus 5 can withstand water to a certain extent and even claimed the Chinese phone maker did similar tests to the device. Moreover, the vlogger also mentioned the fact that the phone does not have any IP certification which made it quite an amazing discovery.
OnePlus CEO Pete Lau is said to have confirmed about OnePlus 5's so-called "secret waterproof feature." Alongside the confirmation, the top hat stated in an interview that the tech firm believes that the waterproof feature is not one of the main requisites in buying a smartphone nowadays. He went on saying that putting such attribute into the phone will only make it bulkier
For the uninitiated, an IP67 certification simply means that a device can hold up water with depths up to 1 meter for a good half an hour in which the OnePlus 5 does not have. Moreover, both Samsung and Apple have coated their flagships - the Galaxy S8 and the iPhone 7 respectively with such feature that made both smartphones one of the most expensive in the market today.
