Black Pink Filling 2NE1’s Shoes With ‘As If It’s Your Last’ Success
Black Pink is currently the top K-Pop group under YG Entertainment. With the success of their comeback song "As If It's Your Last," the group proved that they can follow the footsteps of 2NE1, which has already disbanded.
"As If It's Your Last" was released on June 22, Thursday. A week after the release, the song was included in the Best of the Week list under Apple Music Pop.
The list includes popular songs from around the world selected by Apple Music's editors. Also in the list were "Signs" by Drake, "No Complaints" by Metro Boomin featuring Offset and Drake and "Don't Quit" by DJ Khaled and Calvin Harris featuring Travis Scott and Jeremih.
On YouTube, the music video of "As If It's Your Last" earned 20 million views in just two days. Black Pink is the first K-Pop group to achieve such a feat on the video-sharing site.
Written by Lydia Paek, Future Bounce and Teddy, "As If It's Your Last" is the fifth song recorded by Black Pink members Jisoo, Jennie, Rose and Lisa. Their first four songs were "Whistle," "Boombayah," "Playing With Fire" and "Stay."
YG Entertainment launched Black Pink in August 2016. Jisoo, Jennie, Rose and Lisa recently talked about their upcoming first anniversary in an interview with OSEN.
In such a short time, Black Pink received so much love, Lisa said. The pressure is growing and the members of the K-Pop girl group want to keep showing their best, she added.
There are still many things that the Black Pink members want to do. One of them is to meet their fans in person and get to know them, according to Jisoo.
With the success of Black Pink, YG Entertainment CEO Yang Hyun Suk has advice to Jisoo, Jennie, Rose and Lisa. He told the girls to emphasize the choreography because the audience trusts and listens to them more if the performance is fun to watch, Jisoo revealed.
