Seungri may not be promoting any new music right now but he is clearly busy with something else. The superstar idol has been revealed to be in the middle of preparations for an upcoming martial arts tournament.

Koreaboo has revealed that BIGBANG member Seungri will be flying off to New York next month to attend a martial arts tournament. The said idol will be attending the New York Summer International Open IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Championship, which will be held at the Nat Holman Gym (CCNY) on July 15 and July 16. This is so he can earn his next rank, the purple belt in Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu. This is not something new for the said idol since he has participated in other competitions to attain certain levels in other martial arts. He has already earned a black belt in Taekwondo.

Seungri, whose real name is Lee Seung Hyun, has apparently been training for this tournament for a year now. Social media revealed that he has been training with well-known martial artists like Matheus Diniz. Diniz, who is also known as King Kong, is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt famous for being one of the most intense competitors. Seungri has also been training for his jiu-jitsu tournament in Osaka, Japan, and his fellow trainees have documented this on their respective social media accounts.

Seungri is currently busy promoting and working as an artist in Japan and China. He has taken on various hosting spots on several shows and even promoted new songs in those countries. His latest project is his first Chinese film, “Bonjour L’amour”. The said movie also star Bai Michelle and it is slated to release sometime this year.

Meanwhile, the rest of the BIGBANG members are currently busy with their individual projects. The group’s leader G-Dragon is currently promoting his new self-titled album, “Kwon Ji Yong”. Rapper T.O.P., on the other hand, is set to appear in court soon for the formal hearing of his case.
