4-Year-Old Dies Due To Dry Drowning: Learn How to Prevent And Save Your Children From It

4 year old loses his life to a rare condition called "dry drowning"

In a tragic incident that shook a family in Harris County Texas, after a preschooler passed away due to Dry/Delayed drowning. Frankie Delgado was 4 years old, who passed away suddenly after having swum with his family in the Texas City Dike. According to Frankie's father, "Out of nowhere he woke up and he said 'ah' and he took his last breath"

Doctors were able to inform the parents that Frankie died due to "dry drowning". The parents had never heard of this condition before, and I am sure that most of you do not know about it either.

The family was under the impression that their 4-year-old had encountered a stomach bug but sadly that was not the case. Frankie had inhaled water into his body while swimming with his family. According to his mother, Tara Delgado, "His lungs were full of fluid and there was nothing else they could do for him,".

Dry drowning can occur in any body of water, it can even take place in the safety of your bathroom: in your bathtub. Although the condition is very rare, parents need to know and recognize the symptoms before it gets too late. In a condition like dry drowning, the clock is always ticking and it is essential that the symptoms are noticed before it gets too late.

According to Dr. Alexander "It happens in the voice box area and it starts to vibrate or really spasm. And it's that spasming that leads to the problem with breathing. The fluid gets down into the lungs and causes a chemical reaction, you'll notice when they're trying to breathe you can see their rib cage in between taking breaths."

Other signs of dry drowning include chest pain, extreme fatigue, and general irritability. In case you notice these signs in someone, it is essential that you go to a doctor in order to rule out the possibility of a dry drowning. Dry drowning can be easily prevented if spotted beforehand, if not then it could certainly lead to loss of life.
