5 Promising K-Dramas To Watch Out For In June 2017

This June, K-drama fans have a lot of options to add to their watchlist. They can choose from different genres, including comedy, historical, romantic, action and more. Here is a brief guide to some highly anticipated Korean dramas premiering this summer.

Five promising K-Dramas to watch out for in June 2017

1.    Seven Day Queen: Starring Park Min Young in the lead role of Shin Chae Kyung/ Queen Dangyeong, this KBS2 K-Drama premiered on May 31 and will end its run on Aug. 3. It airs on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 10:00 pm KST. The political drama has a romantic twist as it tells the tale of longing. It is the story of Queen Dangyeong, who was dethroned abruptly after seven days of taking the throne. Also, she is forced to live a life outside the palace and she spends the rest of the life longing for King Jungjong.

2.  Duel: Premiering on June 3, this OCN drama stars Jung Jae-young (Jang Deuk-cheon), Kim Jung-eun (Choi Jo-hye), Yang Se-jong (Sung-joon) and Seo Eun-soo (Ryu Mi-rae) in the lead role. It is an action-packed thriller that tells the story of a detective cop Jang Deuk-cheon. His daughter is kidnapped and he must reach the kidnappers before it's too late. He has only one clue as he goes after the kidnapper, who has a clone and both were present at the same time when his daughter was kidnapped.

3.  The Best Hit: Also known as "Hit the Top," this KBS2 drama premiered on June 2 and airs on Fridays and Saturdays at 11:00 pm KST. Starring Yoon Shi-yoon, Lee Se-young, Kim Min-jae and Cha Tae-hyun, the K-drama follows the lives of two young singers, Yoo Hyun-jae and Lee Ji-hoon. Yoo Hyun-jae is a 90s pop star, who travels to the year 2017. He was quite popular for his looks, music and often involved in controversies. Meanwhile, Lee Ji-hoon is studying for his civil servant exam but secretly he wants to be a pop star. They have their own struggles to deal with.

4.  Forest of Secret: The tvN series is also known as "Secret Forest" and it premieres on June 10. It will air on Saturdays and Sundays at 9:00 pm KST. Starring Jo Seung-woo as Hwang Shi-Mok and Bae Doona as Han Yeo-in, the show tells the story of a police officer and a prosecutor on a hunt for justice and truth as they solve a serial murder case.

5.  Woman of Dignity: The JTBC drama hits the small screens on June 16. It will air on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:30 pm KST. Starring Kim Hee-sun and Kim Sun-ah in leading role, the K-drama tells the story of a cheerful woman who is betrayed by her husband. It is the story of struggle when Woo A-Jin's (Kin Hee-Sun) life takes an unexpected turn and all her luxuries are taken away.
