Tiger Woods Jailed for DUI; Golfer Denies Involvment of Alcohol or Drugs, Blames Medications for Arrest
Tiger Woods was on the breaking news earlier today after he was arrested for DUI in Florida. The pro-golfer was arrested at 3 a.m. on May 29 after patrolling police noticed an erratic car moving "all over the road."
The law enforcers pulled over a 2015 Mercedes and found Tiger Woods in the driver's seat. Reportedly, the golfer was behaving arrogantly and refused to take a Breathalyzer test.
In the state of Florida, drivers who resist the breath test are automatically arrested and have their driver's license suspended. Woods was brought to the Palm Beach County Jail and his reps arrived shortly. The Mercedes was also picked up by the golfer's staff.
BBC reported that the 41-year-old sportsman was arrested near his home in Jupiter. It was added that Tiger Woods was released from jail after about four hours of stay. It should be noted that he was freed after writing a promissory that he will fully cooperate with the legal proceedings.
A little while after coming out of the jail Tiger Woods denied that his DUI was a result of drunk driving. He stated that his arrest did not involve alcohol or drugs and pointed to mix medications instead.
On May 29, Woods released a statement via Jason Sobel of ESPN, "I want the public to know that alcohol was not involved. What happened was an unexpected reaction to prescribed medications."
He also asked for forgiveness by saying, "I would like to apologize with all my heart to my family, friends and the fans. I expect more from myself too and I will do everything in my power to ensure this never happens again."
Meanwhile, Tiger Wood's mugshot that showed a disheveled, haggard-looking man continues to make rounds online. Many commented that the photo exactly depicts what the world-renowned athlete has become, someone who is facing a stark decline.
